Avant de rejoindre la famille royale et de consacrer l’essentiel de son temps à la bonne cause, Meghan Markle avait déjà tout d’une duchesse charitable. Dernier exemple en date le 7 décembre, avec une photo d’archive montrant l’ex-actrice aux fourneaux.

Tandis qu’elle profite d’une pause prolongée loin des médias, Meghan Markle continue de faire parler d’elle. Et pas forcément en mal. Le 7 décembre 2019, l’association canadienne St. Felix Centre, qui vient en aide aux habitants défavorisés de Toronto, a publié une photo encore jamais dévoilé de l’épouse du prince Harry, prise bien avant qu’elle ne devienne duchesse de Sussex.

Meghan Markle was an active supporter and volunteer of St. Felix Centre during her time living in the city while working on Suits. She volunteered on a regular basis in our kitchen as part of our Community Meals Program. The Duchess also donated food from the set of Suits, and on one Thanksgiving she brought in all the food, turkeys and the fixings for over 100 people. . Through our Twitter account we responded to the announcement: “Thank you! Many people here have fond memories of Duchess Meghan volunteering with us – though we remember her just as 'the lovely Meghan'. We're happy to see she continues supporting vulnerable people now as a member of the Royal Family. We'd love for her to visit us again one day.” . Chaque mois, les parents d’Archie (7 mois) mettent en lumière le travail de plusieurs organisations de bienfaisance sur leur compte Instagram. Pour remercier le couple royal d’avoir ce mois ci choisi d’honorer son engagement, le St. Felix Centre a ouvert ses archives pour en sortir un cliché inédit de la duchesse, lorsqu’elle était encore actrice dans la série Suits : « Meghan Markle était une bénévole active du St. Felix Centre lorsqu’elle vivait dans la ville [à Toronto, entre 2011 et 2017, NDLR]. Régulièrement, elle faisait du bénévolat dans nos cuisines dans le cadre de notre programme Community Meals. La duchesse donnait aussi de la nourriture venant du tournage de Suits, et pour un Thanksgiving, elle a apporté toute la nourriture, les dindes et accessoires pour plus de 100 personnes. »

Meghan Markle n’a pas attendu de porter une tiare et un titre royal pour donner de son temps pour la bonne cause. Même si elle met aujourd’hui sa notoriété au service des causes qui lui tiennent à coeur, cette nouvelle vie de duchesse compte son lot de sacrifices pour l’ancienne actrice américaine. Face au véritable harcèlement de la presse britannique, le duc et la duchesse de Sussex ont décidé de s’accorder une pause de six semaines libre de tout engagement royal. Avec leur petit Archie, ils se seraient envolés pour la Californie, afin d’y passer Thanksgiving avec Doria Ragland, la mère de Meghan Markle.
